When Thomas Mims started looking for a private school for his children in Clanton, Ala., he didn't find one.
Now there is one, and it's "reimagining the classroom for the next generation," AL.com reports.
Liberty Christian Academy opened its doors in 2021 with the goal of adding a grade level each year.
This fall semester, the school will enroll students ages 4 through the 2nd grade.
"There is so much good that is going on," says a board member.
Among the school's unique teaching techniques: Step Up to Learn, which links gross motor skills with activities to develop fluency in literacy, math, and handwriting.
The school also offers Spanish classes, music with choral and handbells, Bible curriculum, and physical education.
Students also participate in seasonal field trips to optimize learning opportunities and growth.
"The academy strives to provide students with diverse tools and resources that can fuel the children's academic ability," says the school's Pre-K director.
"One hopes to remove academic barriers that hinder students from choosing career paths that drive passion and spark imagination."
