For more than 50 years, Marquis Who's Who has been publishing an annual list of America's most influential people.
Now, for the first time, it has added a woman to the list.
Linda Hawkins has been named to the list based on her work in the field of fighting human trafficking.
As president and CEO of Recover Hope, a nonprofit in Chesterfield, Va., Hawkins focuses on raising awareness about the issue and helping victims of human trafficking.
She hopes to open a two-year, cost-free residence for survivors of human trafficking that addresses their physical, mental, and emotional needs, per a press release.
Upon completing the program, participants receive support to reintegrate into society, including entrepreneurial and educational opportunities.
"The cornerstone of her success lies in her steadfast faith and the support of her mother, who had been her biggest cheerleader for her entire life, until her passing in 2022," writes the Marquis Who's Who.
"Looking forward, she aims to extend support to men and children through Recover Hope as they, too, can become victims of human trafficking."
